2009 Francis Marion Memorial Scores
 Shooters,
The sun was shining brightly, the children were singing….wait a minute, this is the Francis Marion! Let’s try this again…The dark forboding skies rumbled as the sounds of gunfire echoed through the swamp, screams of triumph and agony were heard as if muffled by some unseen force.
The 29th running of the Francis Marion was one of the best of all time, combining a never before seen course layout, new structures, and pyrotecnic devices guaranteed to distract the shooter. The longer than usual course was also very taxing on shooters, forcing mistakes and failures due to stress and exhaustion.
The overall winner was Nathan Goebel, who showed his ability to keep moving and shooting accurately over the lentgh of both long and challenging courses of fire in the swamp and the woods. Fantastic setup and support was shown by Goebel (who should be a member) and new members Nathan Wilson and Roy Mitchell. Wilson paid one of the Director’s the highest compliment by informing him he had joined ALGC because of the Francis Marion….hope this year exceeded your expectations! These guys and several others put out a superhuman effort that enabled this years night before dinner (Thanks Doug and Paul!) and overall shoot to be one of the best ever – hats off to all who made it happen!
