Francis Marion 2003

Saturday, July 26th, 10:00 AM

Jungle stage.Another Francis Marion has come and gone, and this year's shooters have the smiles on their faces to prove it. This year's turnout was fantastic, with more than 30 shooters braving the treacherous swamps, muddy jungle run and challenging dry land course.

The swamp gods smiled upon us, blessing us with a perfectly soupy swamp, and perfect weather on the match day. The last swamp course (two years ago) was relatively dry, so we know how much the Francis Marion Faithful have been jones-A victim of the swamp.ing for the taste of swamp muck in their mouth and the feel of ooze under their feet. Top competitor, Rudy L. was so happy to see the wet swamp, he actually laid down on his back to take his last shot in the swamp course. You did do that on purpose, didn't you Rudy?

Other items of interest:
  • In his first Francis Marion, Mark M. took first place in the Enhanced Tactical Shotgun - Auto division. Nice job Mark!
  • Jess G. beat her husband on the Cajon Mafia Rescue dry land course. Way to go Jess! I guess Dosh trained you well.
  • Tactical Tom W. took second place in the Riot Gun - Auto class, shooting a 14", 5 shot entry gun. This thing is hard to handle, and Tom did it very well.
  • Another upcoming talent, Jason "Crazy Legs" H. took third place in the Riot Gun - Pump division. This is his first year shooting Tactical Shotgun. If any of you saw him shoot the first Tactical Shotgun match of the year, you know how far he's come. Nice job Crazy Legs!
As usual, the Night Before Dinner and the post match lunch were of the highest quality. Our thanks to the world famous chef's of Combat Cuisine for pulling off another culinary masterpiece.

And finally, thanks to all of you who helped set-up, run the match, and tear things down. Without your help, we can't run events of this magnitude. The names are too numerous to list, but you know who you are.

See you next year!!!

Check back in a week or two - we hope to have more photos. If you have photos you want to submit, e-mail webmaster@ashlandlakegunclub.org

The scores can be found here.

Don't use that canoe, run!

Help for the youngsters. This year's event was offered a la carte so that those "distinguished Francis Marion alumni" and others that weren't interested in getting muddy could still take part in the fun. So, we had lots of participants of various ages.
