Tactical Rifle Match
April 19th, 2003 - 10AM
This Tactical Rifle match will be one of the few that really
favors the heavy Bolt Action Sniper and Special Purpose Rifles.
Shooting will be at 50, 100, 200 and 300 yards, 50 rounds
minimum. Stage One will be on the 100 yard rifle range, Stages
Two and Three are on the 300 yard range. Registration is at the
IDPA shed. Cost will be $10 (plus any affiliate membership
fees).
Please note: Only Bolt Action Sniper and Special Purpose Rifle
shooters will be required to make head shots at 300 yards. All
other divisions will still have to make body shots at 300 yards.
Please review the course description and Tactical Rifle Rules
prior to coming to the event if you have never shot with us
before.
NOTE - Course of fire was altered effective April 16, 3:35PM
Stage One - 300 yard range, at 100 yard firing point. Four
targets secured to Hi-Power backing. 8 rounds, Limited Vickers
(no extra shots)
- String One - Starting with gun loaded with at least
4 rounds, held at Hip Ready position (safety off, finger out of
the trigger guard). Shooter is standing at the 100 yard firing
point. On the audible start signal, engage T1 - T4 with one
shot each. Any shooting position is allowed except for prone
position (e.g.: offhand, kneeling, sitting, rice-patty squat,
etc.). Slings MAY be used.
- String Two - Repeat.
Stage Two - 300 yard range, 200 yard firing point. Four
targets secured to Hi-Power backing. A ground cloth may be used,
but no shooting mats for any classes. Bi-pods and slings may be
used, but no sandbags, target rests, or butt stock monopods. 16
rounds, Limited Vickers (no extra shots).
- String One - Starting with the gun loaded with 4
rounds only held at Hip Ready position (safety ON, finger out
of the trigger guard). Shooter is standing at the 200 yard
line. On the audible start signal, the shooter goes to prone
position, engages T1 - T4 with one shot each, reloads from
slide lock, and engages T1 - T4 with one shot each again.
Safeties must stay on until the shooter is in prone position.
- String Two - Repeat String One
Stage Three - 300 yard range, 300 yard firing point. Four
targets secured to Hi-Power backing. Any shooter can use ground
cloths. SPR or Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle shooters may use
shooting pads. 16 rounds, Limited Vickers (no extra shots).
- String One - Starting with the gun loaded with 4
rounds only, held at Hip Ready position (safety ON, finger out
of the trigger guard). Shooter is standing at the 300 yard
line. On the audible start signal, the shooter goes to prone
position, engages T1 - T4 with one shot each, reloads from
slide lock, and engages T1 - T4 with one shot each again.
Safeties must stay on until the shooter is in prone position.
Sandbags, rucksack rests, butt stock monopods, shooting mats,
and shooting gloves will NOT be allowed for this string.
- String Two - Shooter is given 5 minutes to assume a
solid prone position and dry fire, if necessary. SPR and
Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle shooters may use sandbags, rucksack
rests, butt stock monopods, shooting mats, shooting gloves,
etc. for this string. On command, the shooters will load with a
minimum of 4 rounds. When all shooters are loaded, they can
make ready to take a shot, safety off, finger on the trigger,
sights on the target. On a random signal, individual shooters
will be selected to fire. On this signal (a tap on the back),
the "Standby" command will be given, then an audible start
signal will be given. On the audible start signal, the shooter
engages T1 with two rounds. This will be repeated for T2, a
brief period will be given to reload (if needed), then repeated
again for T3 and T4. Note: SPR and Bolt Action Sniper Rifles
must engage these targets with a headshot first then a body
shot in each string. All other divisions can take body
shots only.
