TACTICAL SHOTGUN CLINIC
May 3, 2003 - 9:00AM
Agenda: An introduction to the
use of the shotgun as a defensive weapon and its use in Tactical Shotgun
matches.
When & Where: Meet at the pavilion at 9:00 AM for a
brief classroom session. Coffee and pastries will be provided. After the
classroom session, we will head to the range for live fire training. Shooting
should be completed by 1:00 PM.
Cost: $5 plus Affiliate Membership
fee if you are not a member. No pre-registration is
required.
Prerequisites: This is not a class for completely new
shooters. Although safety and basic shotgun manipulation will be covered in this
class, it will be assumed that attendees have at least some shooting experience,
and have fired a shotgun before.
What to bring:
- A pump or semi-automatic shotgun, without optical sights. A
shorter barreled, "riot gun" type shotgun is preferred, but a
regular hunting shotgun will work just fine. I do have a
Mossberg M500 Youth Gun, 20 ga, ported with recoil reducer
available for those of smaller stature who can't handle a full
size gun. I will also have a few full size, 12 ga. shotguns
available. Please call in advance if you would like to use any
of these guns.
- 50 rounds of birdshot (cheap low brass shells are fine, #6
or larger shot), 5 rounds of buckshot, 5 slugs.
- Hearing and eye protection are mandatory at all times.
- If you have your own ammunition carrying gear (bandoliers,
etc), bring it. Extra ammunition carrying equipment will be
available.
