Saturday's sniper match was a challenging event that was as expected - completely unpredictable. Paul LaMassena created another great rifle match, creating a new type of plate holder approved by the trustees for rifle fire on the 300 yards range. With new targets, and a fertile mind he created a fantastic and challenging match that tested the mettle of the tactical rifle faithful.

Four stages were present - the first on the 200 yard range where difficult headshots were taken behind cover, then the shooter advanced to a barricade, drew his pistol and engaged an IDPA target. After supressing fire and advancing the shooter used a downed comrade's rifle to finish the match.

On the 300 yard range, the first stage had the rifleman engaging 4"x4" colored armored plates, which the shooter had to engage in a specific sequence. The next stage was engaging four water bottles 2 3/4 " across (Yes Virginia, that's less than 1 MOA at 300 yds) , and the final stage was a long range El Presidente.

Conditions were varied, with the sun mirage and gusty 10 mph cross winds playing havoc with some competitors.

Top 3 shooters of the day and Paul LaMessena for his superb efforts will all recieve the new ALGC Tactical Rifle Challenge Coin, and of course eternal bragging rights (until next year). In addition to the listed shooters, there were four additional shooters who did not finish the entire match, including Trustee Pat Smith who showed some shooters a thing or two about precision Rifle Fire. Nice Shooting!

The Final Tactical Match of the year is also the biggest and the best- Saturday September 20th is the Four Gun (Rifle Pistol Shotgun and Submachine Gun) We are adding the submachine gun this year - do not forget to attend the submachine gun safety clinic before the match if you have not qualified this year!
