July 13th Match Results
After early morning rain, the weather was perfect and 16 shooters turned in their score sheets after competing in a varied and challenging shotgun/handgun competition.
Three Basic scenarios existed: The first was a shootout at a gas station vs. Environmental Wackos, the second a skill drill with the New TRS Barricade which taxed the weak side and reloading skills, and the third was a re-creation of the infamous 1986 Miami FBI shootout.
Hostages were saved from environmental wacko brainwashing via slug shots to the head in the first stage, and the challenging TRS barricade drill shooters shot left and right handed strings at large steel pepper poppers. In the shootout, SA Mirales was moving forward to engage the perpetrators who had just murdered his fellow Agents Grogan and Dove when he was struck in the forearm with a .223 round. The round rendered his arm virtually useless. Undaunted, Agent Mirales fired five rounds from his Remington M870 one handed by resting the gun on the car and working the action one handed. He then strode forward with his revolver firing 6 times one handed at the perpetrators to end the fight. Agent Mirales’s wounds were recreated by competitors wearing a boxing glove on one hand. Everyone found out that firing and cycling an 870 one handed is no easy task, but it can be done!
Mike McGreer finished as the top scorer of the day, we are all hoping he is saving some energy to create a fantastic Francis Marion this year!
