4 Gun Event
Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, & Submachinegun
Saturday, September 20th
Saturday was the perfect day for flinging lead and smelling cordite, and 20 shooters had it in all varieties as they fired Rifles, Pistols, shotguns and Full Auto Submachineguns! The weather was wonderful, and the SO’s had taken vacation days to set up all day Friday in preparation for a full day of complex and fun shooting.
The scenario and scores are listed below, pictures are also attached.
The fantastic shooting simply would not have been possible without the massive efforts of John Moson and Tony LaValle – These two took vacation days used their own vehicles, trailers, trucks, and borrowed friends John Deere’s to create an incredible Shotgun/Pistol Stage. As if this was not enough, they then went ahead and helped everyone else set up, SO’d the Match, and tore everything down when the day was done. Rod Cabage and Fred Phillips also generously gave their time and efforts in a long and fantastic day of shooting everything under the sun – Thanks Guys!
Mike McGreer was the overall winner in time, but Nathan “Big Gun” Goebels was a mere 10 seconds behind as he fired his 7.62mm Springfield M1A SOCOM with Iron Sights in the more difficult “Heavy Gun” division. Way to shoot Nathan! Tony LaValle, John Moson, and Nate Phillips rounded out the top five in the Four Gun Competition this year.
We also have to give a special nod to Terry Dixon, who drove to compete in this Year’s competition from Illinois – great to hear we are that much fun, it is a true compliment!
Moving Vehicles, full auto submachine guns, rifles, pistols, and shotguns, CQB, shooting on the move, transition to handgun from long gun, bayoneting Taliban, rescuing hostages, shooting from the weak side with rifles, crawling through tubes – This year had it all, a great Finale and end to the ALGC Tactical Rifle and Shotgun Program!
Thanks to all who made it possible this year, it has been a great season of shooting.SCENARIO: RESCUE FROM THE SANSCRIT SHERATONYou are a member of an elite hostage rescue unit tasked with the rescue of 5 downed aviators who are being kept in captivity in the infamous “Sanscrit Sheraton”. These few aviators include the son of the General, reputed to be thinking about a political career. Your unit gears up and lands at the secret LZ deep in enemy territory. The LZ is flooded with camera persons and news reporters babbling on Live TV. One Interviewer shoves a microphone in your face and demands to know what impact this mission will have on the Environment. Before you can answer, a series of massive explosions rock the LZ, and you lose consciousness.
When you awake, it is nighttime and everything is either currently on fire, was just on fire, or is heavily perforated, including the dead interviewer lying on top of you. Your team, unfortunately, has suffered the same fate, and it seems the practitioners of the religion of peace who have declared war on the world have taken all of your units gear and disappeared into the rocky wasteland they call home. You are miraculously unhurt except for a massive headache and second degree burns-the same can not be said for the entire remainder of your unit, and scores of media members. You search the burning debris and bodies but find nothing- Nothing that is, except for your trusty (Insert Favorite Knife Here) and your emergency rations of one Snickers Bar and a slightly crushed bag of Fritos.
You grimly smile to yourself as you realize you have all the tools you need in the world to avenge your Team, Devastate the Muslims, and Rescue the Hostages if from the dreaded “Sanscrit Sheraton”
“Let’s Roll!”
Stage One – SubmachinegunYou follow the tracks through the rocky desert- easy to follow since these murderous Koran Thumpers have been eating your MRE’s and throwing the wrappers out along the jeep trail. You follow the trail of “beef stroganogh” (your favortite) and “Tissue, individual” - to the side of a rocky hill where you can see a group of the Muslims now. There a few Guards still awake. You find an older model weapon tossed aside in the dirt by the Tango’s for one recently acquired – it belongs in a museum, and only has a few rounds in the magazine, but you know it will do the job. You crawl into a drainage ditch culvert to watch and wait for the right moment to StrikeSTAGE TWO- PISTOL
After searching the survivors you find your pistol and
several magazines. You continue on the trail of the tango
caravan, which seems to be the same direction as the original
RV. As you continue, you find a small hut surrounded by more
Tango vehicles more suited for a Mad Max movie than the third
world, if that is possible. You find more MRE’s and CNN camera
gear looted from the not so secret LZ. You grab a grenade you
found in one of the technicals and decide to say hello to the
Tango’s in the Hut. As you open the door, you see one of them
holding your beloved scattergun…STAGE THREE – SHOTGUN / PISTOLYou found one of the cretins in the hut in the last stage caressing your beloved scattergun, which is now in your arms. You do not have the GPS, but you know the general direction to go, which seems to be littered with MRE wrappers and debris stolen from CNN newsvans. Along the road you meet the kindly Old Goat Herder Achmed Mulambi Hussein Malakalaka. He claims to be a great driver, and hates the Tangos for what they have done to his country. You promise to give him a chance to prove both…what is that you hear down the trail?STAGE FOUR – RIFLEYou have arrived near the “Sanscrit Sheraton” with Achmed Mulambi Hussein Malakalaka driving like a madman and talking his way past the checkpoints. You are out of shotgun shells, and down to a few rounds in your pistol, but you can not stop now when you are so close to rescuing the Hostages and completing your mission. As you are watching the entrance to the “Sanscrit Sheraton” guards take notice of you and open fire – with your own rifle. After your Goat Herding driver is killed, you decide to exit the vehicle and take action.
You know you do not have much time, since you know the rescue chopper will be heading this way for one pass at a rooftop rescue at the Prescheduled “Loss of Communication” Time in four minutes. That, and someone is shooting at you.
