Tac Rifle Kitchen Sink Match
August 30 2009
Sunday’s Kitchen Sink Match was fantastic! Thanks to a great team of shooters and SO’s, the 200 and 300 yd ranges were filled to capacity with challenging courses of fire. The five courses (some with more than one string) included a long range prone stage, a stage shooting from a truck, and long moving stage shooting from behind cover and entering a tent/shack complex for CQB shooting, transition from long gun to handgun, and a shooting while moving barrel drill.
The overall winner was the Swamp Hoss himself, Mike McGreer. Mike shot the winning overall score in the enhanced division with a scoped AR rifle, but had some new competition close on his heels. ALGC Rookie Nathan Wilson (shooting in the Heavy Gun Division with his M1A) got second place overall, and first place in the Heavy Gun, followed up by Enhanced Shooter Roy Mitchell, also new to ALGC. These new shooters have been great not only to shoot with, but provide lots of help in assistant SO’ing, and stage creation (With “Wheelman” Burnes driving his own truck!) and teardown.
The last rifle match (except for the Sniper match October 3rd) was filled with challenging shooting from every position one could think of, and had a minimum round count of 59 rifle rounds and 12 pistol rounds from 200 yards to point blank. Lots of smiling tired faces at the end of the day!
With one final match before the close of the season, the overall tactical competition for the various divisions is as follows:
HEAVY GUN: First Place Jason Henthorne 17 points, Second Nathan Gobel 12 points, Third Nathan Phillips 7 points
ENHANCED GUN: First Place Roy Mitchell 7 points, Second Mike McGreer 6 points (who also has 6 points in the Heavy Gun Division), Third Place Jamie Boggs with 5 points
STOCK GUN: First Place Mark Amodeo 8 points, Second (TIED) Doug Saris 6 points , Chris Warstler 6 points, Third Place R Young 4 points
