Tactical Rifle & Shotgun Match

The TRS program wanted to try something a little different, by exploring the full capabilities of man and firearm within 300 yard distances. 300 yards is ALGC’s longest range. Knowing we had some newer shooters and the fact that our regulars are more used to C.Q.B. We decided to have scored sighting shots at the 100, 200, and 300 yard distances. This slowed down the match somewhat, but I believe it was necessary in preparing everyone for the 200 yard match and for future matches that will be up and coming.
The 200 yard range was full of targets in various
levels of taking cover. There weren’t many fully exposed
targets, making shots more difficult. The trick with matches
is finding the happy medium between going “too fast and being
less accurate”, or being “too slow and more accurate”. A lot
of guys found out pure speed alone does not guarantee a win,
but pushing your capabilities will make you a better shooter
one match at a time. Congratulations to Vince Walker for taking 1st place
in the Tactical Enhanced division, not only did he place 1st,
but also was the most accurate in his division. Vince
balanced speed and accuracy quite well. Also taking 1st place
in Stock Irons division was Jesse Viens, congratulations!

I saw a lot of new faces and am looking
forward to seeing them again at more Tactical Rifle and
Shotgun matches. Just a reminder in future matches we won’t
give you the opportunity to adjust/sight in your
rifle/shotgun, so be prepared for anything.
