Rifle Math Results
October 4, 2014I would like to thank everyone who braved the 16+mph high winds, rain and occasional small hail/ice pellets. We had a record turnout for this type of match, thanks to a lot of new shooters who decided to give the TR&S Precision Rifle Match a shot, 40 to be exact, one short of my designated round count. I guess I should of had “two” scrambled eggs this morning instead of one. I admit the egg shot was fun to watch! We could have had a little smoother match on the 300 range side, but I really didn’t expect such a large turnout, otherwise a pretty good match overall.
I put every shooter into the same division because the par time made it all equal. Ran the scores for all the shooters and lumped the whole group together. Congratulations to Aaron Hipp for taking 1st place followed by Roy Mitchell and myself respectively. A special thanks goes to John Moson for running Roy and myself (through our own match) after we finished up with all the other shooters.
I try to design the matches with the “shooting aspect” and not so much on the equipment used, doing my best to equalize the playing field and make it about trigger control and other aspects of the game, that are not equipment dependant. Having said that, you need to eliminate as many weak links as possible, remember it’s the rifle, ammo and the shooter, each having many items that can let you down during a match. Some of those aspects need to be revisited by individuals who had a frustrating time expecting more from their “system”, fortunately that’s why you come out and shoot so you can “learn” what works and what doesn’t, hopefully getting better each time.
