TR&S Tactical Rifle MatchScheduling required us to run a Sunday match which we normally don’t like to do because of time limitations. We had a lower head count, but still had a great match. Three main features of this match were used. Shooters had some fun and frustration trying to maneuver through the CoF. First a series of targets with letters that were designated to be engaged only by another letter at the firing point, then they were reversed the opposite direction. Surprisingly to me, most people did very well even though they had to identify every target before shooting. Secondly we had a stage with your dominate eye blocked off and the expression of most was exactly what I expected, which was “wow, that’s weird”. Thirdly we forced shooters to shoot low prone and high prone taking them out of the “lazy prone” comfort zone. Low prone shooting reminds me of a line from a country song “Kick the dust up” which was pretty apparent for the first couple of shooters. Some guys who had comps also got a taste of the local dirt. In the end everyone had fun, most learned a thing or two and that’s good enough for me. |
