IDPA Match

March 26, 2016

"Spring Opener"

Saturday March 26 2016 saw Ashland Lake’s first IDPA match of 2016 and it went off with a “bang”.

74 shooters braved the frigid morning spring air to compete in this match. By noon both the competition and temperature had risen a few degrees. By 1:30 pm the dust was settling on another page of ALGC IDPA history.

Andrew Miller (not to be confused with Andy Miller who also shot the match) had shot his way to the overall number 1 spot. I must comment that half way through the match Andrew’s gun started to malfunction and yours truly offered up mine as a substitute – there is nothing more humbling than being beaten with your own gun! It just goes to show, it is not about the gun but the person driving it. Great Job Andrew and Congrats – but a good gun helps! Yeah I had to get that one in.

The new format caught some of us off guard, but I believe that the general consensus was that it was working and we should continue to refine it.

Scores were available by 2:00pm for anyone wishing to review their performance and uploaded to Practiscore by 4:00pm. Isn’t technology wonderful?

A special thank you must go out to John LaRiche, without whom I would be still trying to set up Practiscore. As always my thanks to the SOs that helped to set up the match on Friday evening and to run it Saturday. Combat Cuisine did an awesome lunch – guys without your continued support this program does not happen, so thank you! And last but certainly not least is a big thank you to all of you – the shooters – who stood up to Mother Nature to enjoy a great day of shooting.

Let’s do it again soon!
